Omega 3 protect eyes health in Diabetic Patients, Study found

A recent study* published in Retina in June 2023 (print) reported that Omega-3, DHA, DHA and EPA (but not EPA alone)  levels in blood in type 2 diabetic patients are associated with lower incidence and severity of daibetic retinopathy, a potential sight threaterning eye disease.

1,356 type 2 diabetic patients came from 2 study groups – MESA and GOLDR. Blood samples were taken and their blood levels of DHA and EPA were measured. Their eye health were monitored.

In conclusion, increase dietary intake of omega-3, particularly DHA reduce risk of diabetic retinopathy in diabetic patients.

PRN nuretin is rich in DHA in rTG form (which is more absorbable that conventional forms**) and marketed to patients concerned about bloold sugar and eye health.
